Draft — replace [bracketed] placeholders (legal entity name, contact email, governing state) before relying on this, and have an attorney review it before high volume.
1. What VillageNexus is. A platform where members share warm introductions and referral leads. Members appear by alias until both sides confirm a match, at which point real names are revealed to just the two of them.
2. Accounts. You must be 18+ and able to form a binding contract. You're responsible for your profile's accuracy and your account's security.
3. Posting certification. When you post an introduction you certify: you have the right to share it and doing so doesn't violate any confidentiality or non-compete obligation to an employer; it reflects your own relationship context, not a scraped or bulk-exported record; and if you attach a referral fee, you're legally permitted to receive one in that context. VillageNexus does not verify these certifications — you are solely responsible for your own compliance.
4. Referral fees vary by industry. Insurance, real estate, securities, and legal referrals are specifically restricted by licensing law in most jurisdictions. VillageNexus disables the fee option for the clearest cases, but that's a convenience, not a legal opinion — confirm with your own counsel if unsure.
5. Payments. VillageNexus does not process or hold any payment between members; any referral fee is arranged directly between the two members.
6. Conduct. No false or defamatory statements about third parties, no scraping, no impersonation, no unlawful use.
7. Data rights. See the Privacy Policy. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from your Profile.
8. Disclaimers. VillageNexus is provided "as is," does not verify any introduction or certification, and is not a party to any referral or fee arrangement between members. Liability is limited to the maximum extent the law allows.
9. Governing law. [FILL IN].
Draft — same caveats as the Terms of Use.
What we collect: your email, password (hashed by our authentication provider, Supabase — we never see it in plaintext), real name, alias, company, title, industry, and the introductions/leads you post. We do not collect any third party's contact information (no external person's email, phone, or address) — a lead is your own written description, not an uploaded contact record.
Why: to run the core features you signed up for — the alias/reveal mechanic, the feed, and reputation scoring from completed transactions.
The reveal mechanic: your real name is visible to VillageNexus's operator at all times for account administration, but shown to another member only once you've both confirmed a match with each other.
Advertising: ad placements may be served by a third-party ad network (e.g., Google AdSense), which may use its own cookies for interest-based ads — see that network's own privacy policy and opt-out settings once enabled.
Sharing: we do not sell your personal information. We share data with service providers who help run the platform (Supabase for auth/database, your web host) under contracts limiting their use of it, and disclose data if legally required.
Your rights: request or delete your data any time via the "Delete my account and data" control in your Profile. EU/UK members have GDPR rights (access, correction, deletion, portability, objection); California residents have CCPA/CPRA rights (know, delete, opt out of sale/sharing — we don't sell or share for cross-context behavioral advertising beyond a connected ad network's standard operation). Contact [YOUR CONTACT EMAIL] for anything beyond the in-app control.
Retention: kept while your account is active, deleted on request or account closure, except limited records we're legally required to keep.
Children: not directed to, or usable by, anyone under 18.
